Police clearance requirements in Zimbabwe.

Police clearance may be required for study , travel or employment  Visa applications. The purpose of a police clearance is  to attest to one’s past criminal record. In Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is charged with the responsibility of producing clearances through its Criminal Records Office working in conjunction with the Central Criminal Bureau.CID Headquarters is situated at Corner 10thStreet/ Josiah Chinamano Ave Morris Depot Harare.

 Below the brief requirements for obtaining a police clearance are outlined

REQUIREMENTS

The person requiring clearance should submit his/her fingerprinted forms together with proof of payment of the vetting clearance fee in the form of the original/top copy receipt.

Where to get the fingerprint forms?

Local Residents can obtain fingerprints forms from any stationery shop that sells the forms.

Foreign based Residents can obtain the finger print forms from their respective local police stations.

Where to be fingerprinted

After obtaining forms, one can approach their local police stations to have their fingerprints taken. Foreign Residents seeking clearance from the Zimbabwean Police, can have their fingerprints taken in those respective countries.

PAYMENTS

Local Residents, can pay the prescribed fee for Police Clearance at the police station where they would have had their finger prints taken or may elect to pay at CID Headquarters upon submission of their forms.

Upon payment one should ensure the original copy of the receipt is   attached to the forms as proof of payment. One can submit their forms in person or send someone to submit the forms.

Residents based outside Zimbabwe can send their Forms for submission at CID together with a payment of USD$75 to enable processing of the Application.
