Trademark Protection: Lessons from Harry and Meghan on ‘Sussex Royal’

by | Jun 2, 2020 | 0 comments

The declaration of the COVID-19  global pandemic brought about two distinct realities which are:

1. Disruption;
2.  and business opportunities.

With that being said we cannot ignore the immense importance of guarding the Intellectual Property  that is part and parcel of those entities exploiting the latter. While Meghan Markle and Harry may be pre-occupied with the ongoing battle for the “SUSSEX ROYAL” trademark, their experience and encounter has raised the profile for trademark protection.

Any person (natural or juristic) can apply for registration of a trademark in Zimbabwe.

A trademark is any word, name, symbol, slogan, design or device, package design, color, sound, touch, smell or combination thereof that identifies the source of the goods or services used in connection with the mark. Upon registration protection is for 10 years.
