Lost Title Deeds: Applying for Replacement Title Deeds

If the original Title deed has been lost or destroyed, damaged or defaced, an application will have to be made for a duplicate original title deed. An application for a lost title deed requires publication in any local newspaper and the Government Gazette for 14 days. Thereafter, an affidavit in support of the application for a replacement copy deposed to by the owner of the property, all the documents together with the proof of adverts are submitted to the Registrar of Deeds for consideration. This application attracts costs which are governed by the Law Society of Zimbabwe (Conveyancing Fees) By-laws.
